Taskin’s ‘Different’ Century

Taskin Ahmed has reached a different kind of century. In his 82nd career match in international T20 cricket, the country’s fast pacer claimed his 100th wicket.

On Thursday, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in a crucial Asia Cup Super Four match, Taskin dismissed Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan.

With this wicket against Pakistan, Taskin Ahmed joined Shakib and Mustafizur in the triple-digit club. Though numerically far behind those two, by dismissing Sahibzada Farhan, Taskin completed his century of T20 wickets.

He reached his 100th wicket in his 82nd match. In his career so far, Taskin has never taken a five-wicket haul. He has taken four wickets in an innings three times. His best bowling figures are 4 for 16.

After Taskin, it will take quite some time for the next bowler to reach the three-digit mark, as Sheikh Mehedi Hasan, with 62 wickets, is currently in fourth place.

In such a high-stakes match, Taskin Ahmed gave his team success right in the very first over of the innings. The 30-year-old pacer has been playing T20 internationals since April 1, 2014.

In ODIs, he has played 81 matches and taken 118 wickets. In 17 Test matches, Taskin has bagged 49 wickets.

Across international cricket—Tests, ODIs, and T20s—counting today’s first wicket, Taskin has played 180 matches and claimed a total of 266 wickets.
