Finally, the wait is over. After overcoming prolonged complications, Bangladeshi-origin Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury has received clearance to play for Bangladesh.

On Thursday evening (December 19), Hamza made the official announcement, which was also confirmed by Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) President Tabith Awal.

In a video message shared on the BFF’s page, Hamza said, “I’m going to play for Bangladesh. Hope to see you all soon.”

With the final approval in place, there are no obstacles left for Hamza to represent Bangladesh. He received his Bangladeshi passport back in August, which was collected on his behalf by his mother, Rafia Choudhury.

Hamza is expected to make his debut in the red and green jersey during the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers in March next year.
