In the final over, Rangpur Riders needed 26 runs to win against Barishal, but Nurul Hasan Sohan, the captain of Rangpur, delivered an unbelievable performance, scoring 30 runs off Kyle Mayers’ last over to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. With this win, Rangpur secured their sixth consecutive victory in the tournament.

On Thursday, January 9, Rangpur’s captain Sohan won the toss and opted to field first. Barishal got off to a strong start with Tamim Iqbal and Najmul Hossain Shanto leading the charge. Shanto scored 41 off 30 balls, while Tamim added 40 off 34 balls. Later, Kyle Mayers played a blistering knock, remaining unbeaten on 61 off just 29 balls, helping Barishal post a formidable total of 197/5 in their 20 overs. For Rangpur, Kamrul Rabbi picked up two wickets.

Chasing 198, Rangpur had a shaky start as they lost the in-form Alex Hales for just 1 run. However, Saif Hassan and Toufiq Khan steadied the innings briefly. Saif scored 22 off 19 balls, while Toufiq made 38 off 28. After their dismissal, Iftikhar Ahmed and Khushdil Shah formed a crucial 91-run partnership, putting pressure back on Barishal.

Iftikhar was dismissed for 48 off 36 balls, and although Khushdil Shah continued his aggressive batting, scoring 48 off 23 balls, Rangpur seemed out of the contest after his dismissal.

In the final over, Rangpur needed 26 runs. Sohan began the over with a six, keeping their hopes alive. He hit four boundaries in the next four balls, bringing the equation down to 2 runs required off the last ball. With a massive six off the final delivery, Sohan secured an improbable victory for Rangpur. He remained unbeaten on 32 runs off just 7 balls, delivering one of the most memorable finishes in recent cricket history.
