“Tamim Iqbal, the Inspiration for the New Generation: BCB”

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has expressed its gratitude to Tamim Iqbal, describing him as the country’s “most elegant opening batter.” In an official Facebook post, BCB paid tribute to Tamim upon his retirement from international cricket, marking the end of an illustrious chapter in Bangladesh cricket.

BCB wrote, “With the retirement announcement of Bangladesh’s most elegant opening batsman, an extraordinary chapter comes to an end in international cricket.”

Praising the former captain, the board added, “From iconic centuries to countless unforgettable memories, your legacy will shine brightly in the hearts of cricket fans forever. Thank you for building confidence, showing us how to fight through tough times, and inspiring courage, hope, and the pursuit of dreams.”

BCB also shared a cover photo featuring Tamim’s iconic moments, captioned, “Thank you, Tamim Iqbal, the inspiration for a new generation. The end of an era.”

On Friday (January 11), Tamim officially announced his retirement from international cricket through his Facebook page. He wrote, “I have been away from international cricket for a while now, and this distance will remain. My chapter in international cricket is over. I’ve been contemplating this for a long time. With a major event like the Champions Trophy ahead, I do not want to cause any distractions or shift the team’s focus.”

Tamim made his international debut in 2007 and has since played 387 matches across all formats, scoring 15,192 runs. The former captain boasts 94 half-centuries and 25 centuries in international cricket.
