Struggling Sylhet Strikers faced another setback as their West Indies all-rounder, Rahkeem Cornwall, was ruled out of the tournament due to injury.
Cornwall, who missed the team’s most recent match due to a groin injury, has returned home following the Sylhet leg of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Sylhet Strikers’ physio, Zahurul Haque, revealed that the 31-year-old off-spinning all-rounder will need several weeks to recover.
Cornwall’s stint in Bangladesh was marked by ups and downs. He missed the first two matches due to illness but played three consecutive games before being sidelined again. Both his performance and the team’s overall form were underwhelming.
In his first game, Cornwall scored 18 runs off 12 balls and took one wicket. However, in the following match, he was dismissed for a duck, despite contributing significantly with the ball by taking three wickets to secure a win for his team. In his last game, he managed only four runs and went wicketless.
Before leaving, Cornwall shared a short video on social media, saying, “Goodbye, Bangladesh. I will see you again in Sylhet.”
