“Tamim Loses His Temper on the Field Again”

Not long ago, Tamim Iqbal had an altercation with Rangpur Riders’ foreign recruit Alex Hales, which led to disciplinary action against him. Now, the Fortune Barishal captain has once again lost his cool on the field, this time engaging in a heated exchange with Sabbir Rahman during a match against Dhaka Capitals.

The incident occurred in the 9th over of the second innings. Chasing a target of 140 runs set by Dhaka, Barishal was batting with Tamim Iqbal and David Malan at the crease. Tamim played a shot that was stopped near the boundary line by Sabbir Rahman, who instead of returning the ball to the bowler or wicketkeeper, dropped it just ahead.

This act, possibly intended to confuse the batters into attempting an additional run and creating a chance for a dismissal, is termed “fake fielding” in cricket terminology. However, Tamim did not take this well and appeared visibly agitated.

Tamim was seen speaking to Sabbir in a heated manner, with the match footage capturing him saying, “Don’t push it too far, Sabbir, don’t push it too far.” While other remarks were unclear, the tension between the two was evident.

As Sabbir started approaching Tamim, Dhaka captain Thisara Perera intervened to diffuse the situation, stopping Sabbir and calming things down. On-field umpires also stepped in to de-escalate the conflict and maintain order during the game.
