“Arrest Warrant Issued Against Shakib in Fraud Case”

Former Awami League Member of Parliament and cricketer Shakib Al Hasan has been issued an arrest warrant by the court.

On Sunday, January 19, Dhaka’s Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Mahbubul Haque issued the order.

It has been reported that the arrest warrant was issued in connection with a check dishonor case involving IFIC Bank. Along with Shakib, warrants were also issued against two other individuals: Gazi Shahgir Hossain, Imdadul Haque, and Maleka Begum.

Previously, on December 18, the court had issued a summons against Shakib and three others. At that time, the order was made by Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Mahbubul Haque of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s (CMM) Court in Dhaka.

According to the case details, the lawsuit involving the dishonoring of checks amounting to BDT 4.14 crore (41.4 million) was filed on December 15. The accused were instructed to appear in court on January 18.

This latest order directs Shakib and the other accused to appear before the court. The court had earlier warned of the possibility of issuing arrest warrants if the summons was ignored. Consequently, the arrest warrants were issued on Sunday.
