Khulna Advances to Playoffs, Rajshahi Eliminated

It was a do-or-die match for Khulna Tigers against Dhaka Capitals—win and secure a playoff spot or lose and face elimination. Thanks to a fiery bowling spell from Hasan Mahmud followed by a brilliant fifty from Mehidy Hasan, Khulna clinched a commanding 6-wicket victory.

With this win, Khulna finished the group stage with 12 points, the same as Durbar Rajshahi. However, Khulna secured the final four spot due to a superior net run rate, while Rajshahi was eliminated from the tournament.

On Saturday (February 1), Dhaka won the toss and opted to bat first, posting a total of 123/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim top-scored with 58 runs off 37 balls. Hasan Mahmud was the standout bowler, conceding just 5 runs in 4 overs while picking up 2 wickets.

Chasing a modest target of 124, Khulna had a shaky start, losing two wickets for just 14 runs. Naim Sheikh and Afif Hossain both departed without opening their accounts.

However, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Alex Ross steadied the innings with a crucial 68-run partnership. Ross was dismissed for 22, but Miraz continued his fine form, reaching his fifty in just 33 balls.

Khulna’s captain remained unbeaten till the end, scoring a match-winning 74* off 55 balls, guiding his team to victory. For Dhaka, Mustafizur Rahman was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3 wickets.
