Sri Lanka Stuns Australia with Historic ODI Win

Sri Lanka secured a resounding 174-run victory over Australia in the second ODI in Colombo, bowling out the visitors for a mere 107. This marks Australia’s lowest ODI total in Asia.

Spinner Dunith Wellalage led the charge with a four-wicket haul, dismantling the Australian batting lineup. Despite the loss, Australian captain Steve Smith emphasized the team’s focus on experimentation ahead of the Champions Trophy. Sri Lanka’s captain, Charith Asalanka, expressed pride in his team’s performance, particularly the spinners, and voiced disappointment about missing the Champions Trophy.

Kusal Mendis shone with a century, supported by half-centuries from Nishan Madushka and Asalanka, powering Sri Lanka to a total of 281. The win secured a 2-0 series sweep for Sri Lanka and boosted them to fifth in the ODI rankings.
