For many years, relations between India and Pakistan have not been good. Even the organization of this year’s Champions Trophy faced several complications due to this.
Earlier, Pakistan faced backlash for not displaying India’s flag at the Champions Trophy opening ceremony. Now, a new controversy has emerged involving India. India’s national anthem was played on Pakistani soil—by mistake!
This incident occurred before the England-Australia clash in the ICC Champions Trophy. During the national anthem ceremony for both teams, an audio mishap took place.
On Saturday, at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, right between England’s national anthem, God Save the King, and Australia’s Advance Australia Fair, India’s national anthem Jana Gana Mana started playing unexpectedly.
According to a report by The Indian Express, the mistake was corrected quickly, but spectators at the stadium noticed the blunder.
Former England captain Michael Atherton made a witty remark about the incident, saying, “After a wrong start to Australia’s national anthem, we finally arrived at the right place!”
