“Reserve Day for Champions Trophy Semifinals and Final”

The group stage of the Champions Trophy has concluded. The four semifinalists were already determined, but the specific matchups were only finalized yesterday. In the last group-stage match, India defeated New Zealand, confirming the semifinal lineup.

India, remaining unbeaten in the group stage, topped Group A, with New Zealand finishing second. In Group B, South Africa secured the top spot, while Australia finished second. According to the tournament format, India will face Australia in the first semifinal on March 4 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Meanwhile, the second semifinal will see South Africa taking on New Zealand on March 5 in Lahore. If India wins, the final will take place in Dubai on March 9. However, if India loses, Australia will travel to Pakistan, and the final will be held in Lahore on the same date.

The Pakistan leg of this year’s Champions Trophy has already seen two matches abandoned due to rain, with several others affected by bad weather. This has raised concerns among fans about what would happen if rain disrupts the semifinals, particularly since one of them is being held in Pakistan.

There is good news for fans—reserve days have been allocated for the semifinals. If the first semifinal cannot be played on March 4, it will be moved to the reserve day on March 5. Similarly, the second semifinal has a reserve day. Additionally, the final on March 9 also has a designated reserve day.
