European Union Interested in Partnering with BCB to Boost Cricket’s Popularity

The world is well aware of how deeply cricket is embedded in the hearts of the Bangladeshi people. The passion and support for the sport in this country are widely recognized. This growing enthusiasm for cricket has also caught the attention of the European Union (EU).

Yesterday, the EU Ambassador to Bangladesh, Michael Miller, paid a courtesy visit to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President, Faruk Ahmed. During the meeting, he expressed interest in collaborating with BCB.

Following the meeting at Mirpur, Miller took a tour of the stadium, and BCB President Faruk presented him with the Bangladesh cricket team jersey. During discussions, Ambassador Miller shared his vision of working with Bangladesh to promote cricket in EU nations where the sport is not widely popular. Additionally, he showed interest in working closely with Bangladesh cricket, particularly in areas such as women’s cricket, talent hunt programs, and even sponsoring a cricket series. The EU’s collaboration with BCB is being facilitated by “Game Play.”

Meanwhile, the European Embassy in Bangladesh has launched a sports event called “EU Go On.” This event, running until March 13, is open to everyone. To participate, individuals must upload a 30-second video on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, or X.
