“We are far behind world cricket” – Imad

Former Pakistani all-rounder Imad Wasim has harshly criticized his country’s cricket team’s outdated approach to modern cricket.

Known for his outspoken nature, Imad revealed that his warnings about the team’s archaic strategies were often ridiculed by fellow players and the management. He stated, “I have been saying this for years, but people laughed at me. I even mentioned in team meetings that the world is moving forward in one direction, while we are still playing cricket from ancient times. We are truly far behind world cricket.”

In the 2025 Champions Trophy, Pakistan failed to win a single match. Following this disappointing performance, Imad admitted that he wasn’t keen on watching the matches. He said, “I honestly didn’t want to watch the matches. But I had to. Look, people will gradually lose interest. If we continue playing like this, fans won’t come to the stadium, nor will they watch the games.”

Imad believes that the Pakistani team must adapt to modern cricket and adopt an aggressive strategy like England and Australia. According to him, Pakistan should focus on putting pressure on opponents rather than defensively aiming for a specific score.

“You have to play cricket the right way. This strategy is not correct. As a cricketer, if you ask me, I watched a few of Pakistan’s matches, and it made me not want to watch anymore,” he added.
