The eighth round of the Dhaka Premier Cricket League concluded on February 25, just before the Eid holidays. After that, the cricketers went on a break. The ninth round will commence on April 6, and once it ends, the national team players will start preparing for the Zimbabwe series. Most cricketers will celebrate Eid in their hometowns. The U-19 team players are also on leave before their Sri Lanka tour. However, the national women’s cricket team has no holidays.
They are preparing for a battle to secure a spot in the Women’s ODI World Cup. The team must travel to Pakistan for the World Cup qualifiers, leaving on April 3. A two-week training camp is currently underway for the players, running until April 2. Although the camp will be closed on Eid day, the coaches plan to hold a special workshop to keep the players motivated despite missing their holiday.
From April 9 to 19, six teams will compete in the qualifiers in Pakistan. Alongside Bangladesh and host Pakistan, the participating teams include West Indies, Ireland, Scotland, and Thailand. The top two teams from this group will qualify for the main tournament. The Women’s ODI World Cup, featuring eight teams, is scheduled to take place in India in September.
Meanwhile, after the Eid break, the Dhaka League will resume, with the first phase’s 11 rounds concluding by April 13, followed by the Super League. The Zimbabwe cricket team will arrive in Bangladesh on April 15 for a two-match Test series. Additionally, Bangladesh’s U-19 team will travel to Sri Lanka in early April for a six-match ODI series. They had a training camp in Rajshahi and Bogura before Eid, which is currently on hold. After a week-long break, they will return to training.
