Rishad Loses PSL ‘Throne’ Within 24 Hours

Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain is playing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for the first time this year. In his first two matches, the young Tiger picked up three wickets each. This performance earned him the Fazal Mahmood cap as the highest wicket-taker in the PSL.

However, Rishad couldn’t hold onto that “throne” for even 24 hours. He has now been overtaken by West Indies pacer Jason Holder as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker.

Rishad’s team, Lahore Qalandars, played their match the night before last against Karachi Kings. Meanwhile, Holder’s Islamabad United faced Multan Sultans last night. In that match, held in Rawalpindi, Holder took 4 wickets for 25 runs. With 9 wickets in 3 matches, he is now the top wicket-taker of the tournament.

Rishad has missed just one match in this year’s PSL. That was against Islamabad United on April 11—a match that Lahore lost. However, Lahore Qalandars secured massive wins against Quetta and Karachi by 79 and 65 runs respectively, giving them a strong net run rate of +2.051. With two wins in three matches, Lahore currently has 4 points. Islamabad United tops the points table with 6 points, having won all three of their matches so far.
