In the 50th match of IPL 2025, Mumbai Indians delivered a brilliant performance to defeat Rajasthan Royals by a massive margin of 100 runs. With this win, the Hardik Pandya-led side has climbed to the top of the points table. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals have virtually been knocked out of the playoff race.
After losing the toss at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Mumbai batted first and posted a huge total of 217 runs for the loss of just 2 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, Rajasthan Royals were bundled out for only 117 runs in 16.1 overs. At one point, it seemed they might not even reach 100. Rajasthan failed to deliver in any department—poor bowling at the start followed by a highly disappointing batting display.
In contrast, Mumbai excelled in all areas—batting, bowling, and fielding.
This victory marks Mumbai Indians’ sixth consecutive win. With 14 points from 11 matches, they have overtaken Royal Challengers Bangalore, who also have 14 points, to claim the top spot based on net run rate.
As the tournament progresses, the race for the top four is becoming more intense. However, with this loss, Rajasthan Royals’ playoff hopes are now all but over.
