Ronaldo’s Son Receives First Call-Up to Portugal National Team

Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. had the option to represent five countries—Portugal, the United States, Spain, England, and Cape Verde—sparking curiosity among football fans worldwide about which nation he would ultimately choose. At last, the 14-year-old has made his decision: he will represent his father’s homeland, Portugal, at the international level.

Cristiano Jr. has received his first-ever call-up to Portugal’s U-15 national team. He will participate in the upcoming Vlatko Marković Tournament to be held in Croatia, where he will represent Portugal’s youth side.

The tournament will take place from May 13 to 18, with Portugal’s U-15 team set to face Japan, Greece, and England.

Cristiano Jr. currently plays for the youth team of Al Nassr, the Saudi Arabian club where his father plays. Previously, he was part of the youth setups at Ronaldo’s former clubs—Manchester United and Juventus.

Recently, he drew attention for his performances with Al Nassr’s youth team, especially after celebrating his goals with his father’s iconic “Siuuu” celebration.

It is due to his impressive performances at Al Nassr that he has earned a spot in Portugal’s youth team. Many Ronaldo fans now dream of seeing him follow in his father’s footsteps and eventually become a regular in the senior national team.

Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was overjoyed at his son’s first national team call-up. In a social media post, he wrote: “I’m proud of you, son.” Ronaldo had earlier expressed his desire to one day play alongside his son, saying, “I’d love to play with him. I’m not losing sleep over the dream, but it would be wonderful if it happened. It all depends on how Junior develops as a player.”
