The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) conducted a raid at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on April 15 over allegations of irregularities, including corruption in BPL ticket sales. Just a month later, the ACC has once again visited the BCB.
Today (Saturday) at around 1 PM, a four-member ACC team entered the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. However, no official statement has been made yet regarding today’s operation.
The raid was led by ACC Assistant Director Raju Ahmed. Previously, on April 16, the ACC had raided the BCB office at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium over alleged irregularities involving around Tk 19 crore during an event held in celebration of Mujib Year. At that time, relevant documents were collected.
Recently, the ACC launched an investigation into former BCB president and ex-MP Nazmul Hassan Papon. He is accused of irregularities in the use of BCB and government funds, acquiring wealth beyond known sources of income, and money laundering through hundi (informal money transfer). As part of the investigation, the ACC has sent a letter to the BCB seeking 27 types of information. The inquiry is being led by ACC Deputy Director Saiduzzaman, along with Assistant Director Mohammad Monirul Islam and Deputy Assistant Director Subimal Chakma.
