As usual, the India-Pakistan match in the World Cup has stirred controversy. Due to ongoing tensions, India has once again opted not to play Pakistan on home soil, forcing organizers to select an alternate venue for the arch-rival clash.
A decision made back in December confirmed that India’s cricket team would not travel to Pakistan until further notice — and vice versa. Tensions escalated further in May this year, raising doubts about whether the two neighbors would even face off in a neutral venue. However, those uncertainties have now been resolved.
India and Pakistan will face each other in the 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, and the match will be held on October 5 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Though India is the official host of the tournament, Pakistan will play all their matches in Sri Lanka. All participating teams scheduled to play against Pakistan will travel to Sri Lanka, making it a dual-host format in practice.
The 8-team round-robin tournament will begin on September 30 and conclude with the final on November 2. The participating nations are:
India
Pakistan
Bangladesh
Sri Lanka
Australia
England
New Zealand
South Africa
