Du Plessis Surpasses Kohli

Faf du Plessis retired from international cricket quite some time ago. He now regularly plays in various T20 leagues around the world. Thanks to his experience, Du Plessis often captains franchise teams. Taking advantage of these opportunities, he has now set the record for the most runs as a captain in T20 cricket, surpassing Virat Kohli.

Former South African captain Faf du Plessis has now become the highest run-scorer as a captain in the T20 format. Even after retiring from international cricket, Du Plessis has continued to play in various T20 leagues worldwide. In this format, he has now overtaken Indian star cricketer Virat Kohli to become the leading run-scorer as a captain. Du Plessis is currently playing for the Texas Super Kings in the United States’ Major League Cricket. In a recent match against the Seattle Orcas, he played a blistering knock of 91 runs off 52 balls. Powered by his innings, Texas posted 188 runs and went on to win the match by 51 runs.

During this innings, Du Plessis became the highest run-scorer in T20s as a captain. The record was previously held by Kohli, who scored 6,564 runs in this role. Du Plessis has now surpassed him.

James Vince is third on the list, having scored 6,358 runs as a T20 captain. At fourth and fifth are India’s former successful captains, MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma. Dhoni has 6,283 runs, while Rohit has 6,064 as a T20 captain.

However, Virat Kohli still remains the overall highest run-scorer in T20 cricket. He has scored 13,543 runs in the format. In comparison, Du Plessis has scored 11,847 runs from 422 matches.
