“Our team will wear black armbands in memory of the victims of the plane crash” – BCB Media Manager

A deep sense of mourning has descended across the country following the devastating plane crash in Uttara, Dhaka. So far, 19 people have been reported dead, with at least 200 more injured by burns. The death toll is feared to rise further.

At 1:06 PM on Monday, a Bangladesh Air Force F-7 BGI model training aircraft crashed on the campus of Milestone School and College in the Diabari area of Uttara. The crash resulted in casualties including teachers and young students.

In response to the tragedy, Tuesday has been declared a day of national mourning. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has expressed its condolences.

During the second T20 match between Bangladesh and Pakistan, scheduled for Tuesday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, the national flag and the BCB flag will be flown at half-mast. Bangladeshi cricketers will wear black armbands during the match.

BCB Media Manager Rabid Inam confirmed the development, saying, “Our team will wear black armbands in memory of the victims of the plane crash. Additionally, both teams will observe a minute of silence before the match.”

While both teams will observe the minute of silence, it is yet to be confirmed whether the visiting Pakistani team will wear black armbands. Since it is not mandatory for the touring side, they may or may not do so. However, given the humanitarian nature of the tragedy, it is possible that the Pakistani cricketers may also choose to wear black armbands.
