Not just grass—it’s a piece of emotion, a slice of history.

England’s Lord’s Stadium is often referred to as the Mecca of cricket. Playing at this most prestigious cricket venue in the world is a dream for every cricketer. If there is one stage that epitomizes the glory of cricket history, it is undoubtedly Lord’s. This historic ground in England is famously known as the “Home of Cricket” — simply stepping onto its turf is a lifelong dream for many cricketers. And if one scores a century or takes a five-wicket haul there, their name goes up on the Honour’s Board — one of the highest personal achievements for any cricketer.

But imagine — what if a piece of that very Lord’s grass found a place on your showcase or office desk? That dream is now possible. The actual grass from Lord’s Cricket Ground is now being sold to general fans. Lord’s authorities have announced that the outfield will be relaid, and the original turf will be removed and sold in small pieces to supporters.

Each piece of grass will measure 1.2 meters by 0.6 meters and is priced at £50 — roughly 8,164 Bangladeshi Taka. In an official announcement on Lord’s X (formerly Twitter) handle, they said:
“This autumn, we’re preparing to relay the historic Lord’s outfield. As part of that process, we’re offering fans the chance to take a piece of the famous turf home. Limited quantities available. Turf can be collected on September 29 or 30. Don’t miss out!”

According to British media outlet The Telegraph, in many places, the outfield grass has been coming loose when fielders dive. To ensure durability and safety, the old turf will be removed and reseeded with new grass across the entire field.

For cricket fans, this is a one-of-a-kind opportunity — a chance to own a tangible piece of a historic moment. That’s the idea behind this initiative: to hand over a slice of cricketing history to the fans.

In 2019, England won the World Cup by defeating New Zealand in the final held at Lord’s. In the 2009 T20 World Cup, Pakistan clinched victory on this very ground, thanks to Shahid Afridi’s all-round performance.

For those who haven’t had the chance to visit Lord’s, even a small piece of its grass can now become a cherished memento of their dreams.
It’s not just a blade of grass — it’s a piece of emotion, a slice of history.
