Bangladesh Under-19 continued their impressive run in the ongoing Tri-Nation Youth ODI Series featuring Zimbabwe U19 and South Africa U19, claiming a resounding 160-run win over Zimbabwe U19 in the second fixture between the sides. Batting first at Harare Sports Club, Bangladesh posted a commanding 284 for 6 in 50 overs.
Opener Rifat Beg laid the foundation with a solid 49, while Abdullah played the anchor role brilliantly, remaining unbeaten on 82. The middle-order batsmen kept the scoreboard ticking, ensuring the target was well beyond Zimbabwe’s comfort zone. In reply, Zimbabwe’s chase never gathered momentum. Early breakthroughs from the Bangladesh pacers left the hosts reeling at 33 for 3 within the opening powerplay.
Nathaniel Hlabangana showed some fight with a gritty 35, but wickets kept tumbling at the other end. The spin duo of Samiun Basir (3 for 14) and Azizul Hakim (2 for 25) applied relentless pressure, while Al Fahad also chipped in with two wickets. Zimbabwe were eventually bowled out for just 124 in 35 overs. The emphatic result gave Bangladesh U19 their second win of the series, strengthening their position at the top of the points table. With South Africa U19 also in contention, Bangladesh will look to carry this momentum into their upcoming clashes and secure a spot in the tournament final.
