Bangladesh Football Team Returns Home from Nepal on Special Flight

The Bangladesh national football team, who had traveled to Nepal for a friendly match but got stranded in Kathmandu amid anti-government protests and violence, has finally returned home.

At 2:55 PM Bangladesh time, head coach Javier Cabrera, captain Jamal Bhuiyan, and the rest of the team departed Nepal on a special flight of the Bangladesh Air Force.

After being confined to their hotel for three days, the players were brought back to Dhaka on a Bangladesh Air Force special flight from Kathmandu. It has been learned that journalists who had gone to cover the Bangladesh-Nepal match also returned on the same flight.

At 4:43 PM, the Bangladesh Air Force posted a video of the team’s arrival on their official Facebook page.

The post read: “Through a special flight of a C-130B aircraft, the Bangladesh national football team stranded in Nepal has been safely brought back to the country.”

Present at the airport to receive the team were Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) team committee chairman Tabith Awal, along with senior officials of the Air Force.

The next assignment for the national football team will be the Asian Cup qualifiers. In October, Bangladesh will play two matches against Hong Kong in the third round of the competition. The first match will be held in Dhaka on October 9, and the second in Hong Kong on October 14.
