Excitement was at its peak over this season’s National Cricket League (NCL) T20. Following the success of the inaugural edition, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had planned to bring venue diversity this time. Cricket fans in Rajshahi and Bogura were given the chance to watch NCL T20 matches in their own backyard.
But the joy was dampened by rain. Due to adverse weather, the organizers were forced to postpone the tournament.
However, there is good news for cricket fans: the NCL T20 will resume from September 26, with all remaining matches to be played in Sylhet.
Earlier, on September 14, the second edition of the NCL T20 had officially kicked off. On the opening day in Rajshahi, the match faced the threat of being washed out, and eventually, it was reduced to five overs per side. On the same day, the match in Bogura was abandoned due to rain.
With forecasts predicting further rainfall for the next two days, Bogura’s fixtures were shifted to Rajshahi. But even that didn’t help. The relocated matches at the Rajshahi Stadium were also abandoned.
Over three consecutive days, out of six scheduled matches, only one could be played while the other five were washed out. Ultimately, the tournament had to be postponed indefinitely due to the persistent bad weather.
