BPL Franchise Owners to Receive Several Benefits

The newly elected directors of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) are currently busy preparing for the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). After their first meeting, director Iftekhar Rahman Mithu confirmed that the next edition of the BPL will be held in December.

A BCB director revealed that franchise owners will enjoy several new benefits in this edition of the tournament.

He said, “There will be 5–6 teams in the BPL. The BCB will give 30% of the revenue from TV rights and ticket sales to the franchises. Each franchise will also be allowed to run advertisements for 30% of the ad time on digital platforms. Two franchises will get 15 minutes each to air their own or their sponsor’s advertisements.”

He further explained, “Along with the Expression of Interest, a pay order or bank draft of 2 crore taka must be submitted. After discussions, the selected parties for franchise ownership will be temporarily approved. Within the next three days, they must submit a bank guarantee of 10 crore taka.”

Regarding venues, the director added, “Dhaka, Chattogram, and Sylhet will be used as venues. We are trying to schedule some matches in Rajshahi, but that might not be possible this time. However, we plan to expand the number of venues next year.”
