Having already lost the three-match T20I series against the West Indies after defeats in the first two games, Bangladesh are now playing to avoid a whitewash. In today’s (Friday) match, the Tigers’ captain Liton Das won the toss and chose to bat first.
In the first two matches, Bangladesh lost by 16 and 14 runs respectively—both times the Caribbean side batted first after winning the toss. This time, in the whitewash-decider, the hosts have followed the same path by choosing to bat first.
While Bangladesh failed to make an impact in the T20I series in Chattogram, they had earlier clinched the ODI series 2–1 in Dhaka. On spin-friendly wickets during that series, the West Indies struggled to find their footing, with their only victory coming through a Super Over thriller.
However, the Caribbean side has bounced back strongly in the T20I series, while Bangladesh’s batters have failed to carry forward the momentum from the ODI success.
For this match in Chattogram, Bangladesh have made four changes to their playing XI. Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain, Tanzim Hasan, and Mustafizur Rahman have been rested. Parvez Hossain Emon, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Sheikh Mehedi, and Shoriful Islam have been included in their places.
