Bangladesh have lost their streak of consecutive T20 series wins after back-to-back defeats to the West Indies, and now face the threat of a whitewash. In such a situation, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam Bulbul sees no option but to “step in” himself — and he’s declared that he will start doing so “from today!”
Despite winning four consecutive series, Bangladesh’s batting has been a persistent concern. Since the Sri Lanka series, the team has suffered at least one collapse in every series. Whether in ODIs or T20Is, the middle order has consistently failed to perform.
The team had a strong chance of reaching the Asia Cup final — they only needed to chase 135 runs against Pakistan. But Bangladesh missed that opportunity. A similar story unfolded in the second T20I against the West Indies, where they failed to chase 150 runs, losing their last five wickets for just 18 runs and eventually losing by 14 runs.
The BCB president was left stunned by such performances. In a recent interview with a newspaper, he exclaimed, “So, we can’t even chase 150 runs now?”
Seeing the state of the team, Aminul has decided to get directly involved. But when will he begin this “intervention”? Not immediately. He clarified, “There’s still one T20 match left in the series. I don’t want to make any changes right now.”
So, when will he start monitoring the team closely? Aminul replied, “You’ll see some new things from the Ireland series. From that series onward, I’ll be staying very close to the team.”
