Preparations are already underway for the new season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). If everything goes according to plan, the players’ draft will take place between November 17 and 20, while the curtain will rise on the 12th edition of the tournament in the third week of December.
It has been almost confirmed that six teams will take part in this year’s event. However, Fortune Barishal and Khulna Tigers are unlikely to feature this season. A new Rajshahi team may return to the competition, and the franchise is rumored to be named “Rajshahi Stars.”
There was speculation that Rajshahi would be added as a new venue, but due to the stadium’s unfinished work, this year’s BPL will once again be held across three venues.
According to the fixture plan, most matches are expected to take place outside Dhaka at two venues, while the opening and closing matches will likely be played at the Mirpur Stadium. The decision was mainly based on the current condition of the pitches.
The U.S.-based event management company IMG has taken responsibility for organizing this year’s BPL. The company will not only manage the upcoming season but also the next three editions of the tournament.
This season’s BPL aims to bring new elements both on and off the field. From the BCB to the franchises and sponsors, excitement is running high among everyone. And all of this is, of course, for the fans. So — are you ready?
