Mashrafe’s wishes to Mushfiq: “Best of luck, Bantu Da”

Mushfiqur Rahim is in great touch in his 100th Test against Ireland. He has already scored a fifty and is moving steadily toward a century. If he does reach the hundred, he will make history as a player scoring a century in his 100th Test. Mushfiqur Rahim has several nicknames—some call him Mushfiq, some affectionately say Mushi, and others call him Mr. Dependable. But former national team captain Mashrafe Mortaza calls him “Bantu Da.”

Mashrafe has extended his best wishes to Mushfiq, using that very nickname, as the latter is on the verge of making history. On his verified Facebook page, Mashrafe wrote on Wednesday (19 November):

“Mushfiq, you are stepping into your 100th Test as the first Bangladeshi cricketer. Considering the reality of our cricket, this is an extraordinary achievement. Your love, dedication, and passion for Test cricket are truly unique. Playing at the top level for over 20 years like this is something to be very proud of.”

Mashrafe warmly added his playful nickname for Mushfiqur, “Bantu Da,” while wishing him well:

“I hope many young cricketers will be inspired by you and motivated to build long careers in Test cricket. I pray that as long as you play, you continue to contribute to the team. Best wishes, Mushfiqur Rahim (Bantu Da).”
