Bangladesh fell on the back foot after losing the first match of the three-match T20I series against Ireland. However, Ireland won the second and third matches consecutively to seal the series. Despite the team result, Bangladesh’s star pacer Mustafizur Rahman and batter Parvez Hossain Emon have received good news for their impressive performances in the series.
Mustafizur Rahman remained wicketless in the first two T20Is of the Ireland series. Even then, his excellent bowling performances have reflected in the rankings of this format. The left-arm pacer has climbed to eighth place among T20 bowlers. With consistent performances, Parvez Hossain has moved up 21 spots among batters.
In the weekly update of the men’s cricket rankings published on Wednesday, Mustafiz moved up two places in the T20 bowling rankings. Several other Bangladeshi bowlers have also improved their positions. Many batters have progressed as well. Among Bangladeshi bowlers in T20Is, Mustafiz is the highest-ranked. He is now just three spots away from his career-best fifth place.
Sheikh Mehedi Hasan, who took three wickets in the second match and one in the final match, has progressed by three places and now sits 14th. Leg-spinner Rishad Hossain, with four wickets in the first and third matches combined, has moved up five places to 15th. Even though Nasum Ahmed went wicketless in the first two matches, he advanced five places to 25th. Paceman Tanzim Hasan Sakib climbed two spots to 35th after taking three wickets in those two matches.
Changes have come in the batting rankings as well. Opener Parvez Hossain Emon has climbed 21 places to a career-best 542 rating points, now ranking 38th. Tawhid Hridoy has moved up five places to 42nd, sharing the same position as Glenn Maxwell. However, some batters have moved down: Tanzid Hasan Tamim dropped one spot to 19th, Saif Hassan fell nine spots to 39th, and Liton Das slipped two spots to 44th.
