Bashar steps down even before the tournament begins

Habibul Bashar Sumon was supposed to take charge as manager and mentor. The franchise had even officially announced his name for the role. However, he has stepped down from the responsibility before the start of the tournament.

Despite being appointed as the manager and mentor of Chattogram Royals, he will not be part of the upcoming BPL. He is currently in the United States. From there, he told a national daily, “Due to some family reasons, I have decided to withdraw from this BPL.”

The Royals had planned to assign him two roles. As a new team entering the BPL for the first time, they hoped to benefit greatly from his experience and leadership. Therefore, his sudden withdrawal is a big blow for the team. They will now have to find a new solution during their preparations for the new season.

Chattogram Royals have already signed local cricketer Mahedi Hasan and left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam through direct contracts. As a new BPL team, they have started considering the appointment of a new manager and mentor, according to relevant sources.

Even without Bashar, Chattogram’s coaching panel is fairly settled. Mominul Haque will be the head coach, while Nazmul Hossain Milon will serve as the batting coach and Ashraful Islam Jico will join the team as the bowling coach.
