Temba Bavuma is the regular Test captain of South Africa. He was forced to retire hurt during an ODI match against Afghanistan due to an injury.
In Bavuma’s absence, Aiden Markram captained the Proteas in the Mirpur Test. The visitors clinched the series 1-0 with a convincing 7-wicket victory on the fourth morning. The second and final Test of the series will commence in Chattogram on October 29. Markram will continue to lead South Africa in this Test.
Bavuma has yet to fully recover from a left elbow injury. Despite significant progress in his rehabilitation, the right-handed batsman is not yet match-ready, according to South Africa.
After suffering a heavy defeat in the first Test, Bangladesh are eager to bounce back in the second. Bangladesh’s batsmen were completely outclassed by the South African bowlers. Bangladesh fielders also dropped a number of catches in the first Test.
