India is fighting to chase a target of 359 runs in the second Test match against New Zealand in Pune. In a setback for the Indian team, captain Rohit Sharma was dismissed early in the innings, scoring only 8 runs.
Previously, in the first Test in Bengaluru, India was bundled out for a paltry 46 runs in their first innings, leading to a comprehensive victory for New Zealand.
In the second Test in Pune, New Zealand scored 259 runs in their first innings, while India managed only 156. New Zealand were then bowled out for 255 in their second innings, setting India a formidable target of 359 runs.
On the third day, India began their second innings and early on, captain Rohit Sharma departed after facing 16 balls for 8 runs. Young batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal is currently playing a T20-style innings, smashing three boundaries and three sixes in just 36 balls to reach 46 not out before the lunch break. Shubman Gill is at the other end, having scored 22 runs off 20 balls. India reached 81/1 in 12 overs at lunch.
