The Ministry of Youth and Sports has taken a policy decision to establish over 220 stadiums at the upazila level, named after the ‘martyrs’ of the July-August uprising.
On Saturday (November 16), Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan made this announcement at the inauguration ceremony of the “Shaheed Farhan Faiyaz Playground” for children with special needs in the National Parliament area.
The sports advisor stated, “We will build over 220 upazila stadiums. We have taken a policy decision to name each stadium after the martyrs from that respective upazila.”
Asif Mahmud emphasized that the sacrifice and blood of the martyrs can never be fully repaid, but efforts are being made to honor them to the fullest extent possible within the nation’s capacity.
Additionally, he mentioned that a chapter on the July-August uprising will be included in the textbooks for the academic year 2025. This chapter will feature memoirs of the martyrs to ensure their legacy is preserved for future generations.
