Rangpur Riders to Represent the Nation in a New Jersey

The Rangpur Riders, a Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise, will represent Bangladesh in the upcoming Global T20 tournament in Guyana, featuring teams from five countries. To mark the occasion, the team has unveiled a new jersey designed in red and green, symbolizing Bangladesh, departing from their usual blue-themed attire.

During a press conference at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla Stadium on Saturday, BCB director Nazmul Abedeen Fahim expressed his excitement about this milestone. “This is a unique event as a Bangladeshi team will participate in a global T20 league. It elevates the stature of Bangladesh cricket,” he said. He further noted that Rangpur Riders are entering the tournament as a strong, well-organized team with experienced players and expressed hope that they will perform well.

The Global Super League is set to commence on November 27, and Rangpur Riders will depart for Guyana on November 22. Fahim believes the team will uphold Bangladesh’s image in the tournament, adding, “This is not just about performing well; it’s an opportunity to gain invaluable experience.” He emphasized that Rangpur Riders are representing not only themselves but also the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the country as a whole.

Rangpur Riders captain Nurul Hasan Sohan described the tournament as a major opportunity for the team. “This will be a competitive event, and we have a responsibility to give our best. It could pave the way for more opportunities like this in the future,” Sohan remarked.

The team comprises nine players who are either part of or close to the national team. According to Sohan, the tournament will serve as both a challenge and a learning process for the players, allowing them to enhance their skills and prepare for upcoming tournaments like the National T20 League and the BPL.

Sohan, who has prior experience playing on Guyana’s pitches, commented that the conditions there are similar to those in Bangladesh. He also mentioned collaborating with head coach Mickey Arthur to finalize strategies for the tournament.

The Global Super League will not only test the skills of the Rangpur Riders but also help them gain exposure and strengthen their competitive edge in international cricket.
