The Bangladesh U-19 cricket team has advanced to the semifinals of the ongoing U-19 Asia Cup in the UAE. The young Tigers secured their spot by winning their first two consecutive matches in Group B, with one game to spare. On Sunday, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, they achieved this feat by defeating Nepal U-19 by 5 wickets.
Batting first, Nepal’s U-19 team was bowled out for just 141 runs in 45.4 overs. In response, Bangladesh chased down the target in just 28.4 overs, scoring 142/5. In their first match, Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan U-19 by 45 runs. Meanwhile, on Sunday, the Afghan team suffered their second consecutive defeat, losing to Sri Lanka U-19 in Sharjah. Consequently, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, with two wins each, have secured their semifinal spots from Group B, while Afghanistan and Nepal have been eliminated after back-to-back losses.
Now, the group leaders will face off on Tuesday in Dubai to determine the group champion.
