Bangladesh Eyeing ODI Series Win After Test Series Draw

Bangladesh’s tour of the West Indies in 2024 begins tonight with the first One Day International (ODI) scheduled to start at 7:30 PM Bangladesh time. Regular captain Najmul Hossain Shanto is unavailable due to injury, so Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who captained the team in the Test series, will also lead the ODI squad.

After losing the first Test match, Bangladesh came back strongly to win the second Test by 101 runs. In their first innings, Bangladesh was bowled out for 164 runs, while the West Indies managed only 146 runs in response, under pressure from the Bangladeshi bowlers. Bangladesh had a slender 18-run lead after the first innings.

In their second innings, Bangladesh scored 268 runs, setting a challenging target of 287 runs for the West Indies. However, the West Indies struggled against the Bangladeshi bowling attack and could only accumulate 185 runs, resulting in a 101-run victory for Bangladesh. This win leveled the Test series at 1-1. Jaker Ali Anik played a pivotal role in the match, scoring 91 runs and setting the tone for the team.

The ODI series is crucial for Bangladesh, and the first match will take place in St. Kitts, where Bangladesh previously won the series 2-1 against the West Indies during their last tour.
