Australia has made history, sealing their third T20 win by seven wickets and clinching the series 3-0 against Pakistan. Pakistan limped to 117 before being bowled out in 18.1 overs, losing their last nine wickets for just 56 runs. Adam Zampa ran rings around them after the powerplay, his 2-11 in four overs catalyzing their collapse.
Babar Azam, who was trying to find his rhythm, scored 41 off 24 balls, and at that point, Pakistan seemed to be in a good position at 58-1. However, Marcus Stoinis’ explosive innings of 61 runs off 27 balls, including a 22-run over off Haris Rauf, dismantled the Pakistani bowling attack and significantly impacted Australia’s victory. Stoinis once again proved to be a key player in Australia’s limited-overs cricket.
Pakistan’s wicket-taking pattern was erratic, losing their first wicket at 17-1, then 61-2, 64-3, 70-4, 91-5, 92-6, 92-7, 116-8, 116-9, and finally 117-10. Adam Zampa’s economical bowling performance of 2-11 at an economy rate of 2.75 was crucial. Aaron Hardie’s terrific swing bowling and gutsy performance, which included the crucial wickets of Usman Khan, Salman Agha, and Abbas Afridi, significantly contributed to Australia’s monumental victory.
The frequent fall of wickets was particularly concerning for Pakistan due to their short tail. They effectively ran out of efficient batters, and their shot selection appeared imbalanced. The Pakistani batsmen seemed caught in a tight spot against Australia’s solid bowling attack.
Australia’s dominant performance has further solidified their position as a formidable force in limited-overs cricket.
