The T20 series against hosts United Arab Emirates was initially arranged as preparation for the Pakistan tour. It was originally scheduled as a two-match series. However, due to the sudden outbreak of conflict between Pakistan and India, Bangladesh’s tour of Pakistan was postponed. Taking advantage of the delay, the Bangladesh team requested the Emirates Cricket Board to add one more match to the series. Responding positively, the board turned the two-match series into a three-match one. That additional match has now become the series decider.
In the first match at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Bangladesh posted 191 runs and won, but the UAE put up a strong fight. In the second match, despite scoring over 200 runs, Litton Das’s side suffered a defeat. As a result, today’s match has become the series-deciding encounter. Bangladesh will go into the match with the goal of securing the series victory. The match will begin at 9:00 PM Bangladesh time.
In the first match, opener Parvez Hossain Emon’s record century helped Bangladesh start the series with a 27-run win over the hosts. However, in a dramatic second match, the Tigers lost to the UAE by 2 wickets. Despite putting up 205 runs for 5 wickets, Bangladesh couldn’t hold on. With 12 runs required in the final over, the UAE secured a memorable win with one ball to spare. While UAE displayed excellent skill and composure, Bangladesh contributed to their own defeat with some crucial errors.
When UAE needed just two runs off two balls, a critical mistake by Bangladeshi fielder Towhid Hridoy cost them dearly—he delayed his throw, missing a golden run-out opportunity. UAE capitalized on the moment and sealed the win with a double. Haider Ali’s cameo of 15 runs off just 6 balls played a vital role in the victory.
Looking to move past that loss, Bangladesh is determined to bounce back and win today’s final game. However, UAE’s win in the second match has given them momentum and put pressure on Bangladesh. UAE captain Mohammad Waseem has already issued a warning of intent, stating their aim is to win the series 2–1.
Waseem said:
“We will give our best in the third match. I hope we can win the series 2–1. I’m very happy that we beat Bangladesh. I’m also pleased with the team’s performance. I encouraged everyone to chase down that target because we know the conditions here well. Now we want to make the final match even more memorable.”
