Bangladesh Drown West Indies in Records to Seal the Series

The victory was almost certain after Bangladesh’s first innings. Why? Because the record-breaking 176-run opening partnership between Soumya Sarkar and Saif Hassan had already revealed the true nature of the pitch — the ball had started keeping low, making batting difficult even for Bangladesh. It was clear that the visiting West Indies batters would struggle, and that’s exactly what happened.

In reply to Bangladesh’s 296, the West Indies were bundled out for just 117 runs. With a massive 179-run victory — their biggest in the format — Bangladesh clinched the series 2–1.

However, Nurul Hasan Sohan played a quick cameo — 16 runs off just 8 balls — to push the total close to 300. He was supported by Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who made 17 off 17 balls before being dismissed off the final delivery. Bangladesh eventually finished on 296 for 8.

He continued his dominance by bowling out Brandon King for 17, leaving West Indies reeling at 35 for 3. In the previous match, West Indies were 133 for 7 before Shai Hope’s heroic 67-ball 54 took them to a Super Over — where they narrowly lost to Bangladesh. But today, there was no such miracle. Hope struggled against the spinners and eventually fell to Tanvir Islam, caught by Najmul Shanto while attempting a slog sweep.

In the third-wicket stand, Towhid Hridoy and Najmul Hossain Shanto added 50 runs off 70 balls. Hridoy fell for 28 off 44 deliveries, followed by Shanto, who scored 44 off 55 balls.
