“Bangladesh has a good chance in the Champions Trophy: Alex Hales

The Champions Trophy will return to the field in about a month. England’s World Cup-winning cricketer Alex Hales believes Bangladesh will once again play in the semifinals of this edition.

Since the last Champions Trophy, the structure of the Bangladesh team has changed significantly. Most players in the current squad lack experience in this tournament. Moreover, key players like Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal are no longer part of the team. Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah are nearing the twilight of their careers. Furthermore, Bangladesh faced a dismal performance against the West Indies in their last ODI assignment before the Champions Trophy.

Bangladesh is placed in Group ‘A’ of the Champions Trophy, alongside hosts Pakistan, India, and New Zealand. While Pakistan has a slight edge as the host nation, India and New Zealand are formidable opponents. Despite these challenges, Alex Hales remains optimistic about Bangladesh’s chances.

In an interview with a private TV channel, Alex Hales, who previously played for Rangpur Riders in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), said, ‘Bangladesh has a good chance in the Champions Trophy because they perform well in subcontinental conditions. I see opportunities for them in this tournament. There are many talented players. Best wishes to Bangladesh for the Champions Trophy.'”
