Bangladesh Need to Avoid Whitewash, Must Improve Performance

West Indies will face Bangladesh in the third and final match of the series on Thursday, December 12, at Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts. The home team has already secured the series and will be eager for a clean sweep, while the visitors will need to deliver a special performance to avoid going home empty-handed.

The second match was dominated by the West Indies. Their bowlers came out strong, dismissing Bangladesh for just 227 runs. Jayden Seales was exceptional, taking 4 wickets for 22 runs in 9 overs, leaving the batters struggling. Gudakesh Motie contributed with 2 wickets, while debutant Marquino Mindley, Romario Shepherd, Justin Greaves, and Roston Chase each took 1 wicket.

With the bat, the West Indies made the chase look easy. Brandon King led the innings with a classy 82 runs. Evin Lewis supported with 49 runs, and Keacy Carty added 45. Shai Hope and Sherfane Rutherford finished the innings with unbeaten contributions. The Windies chased the target with eight wickets remaining and four overs to spare. They will aim to continue their strong form and achieve a whitewash.

For Bangladesh, this series has been challenging. Mahmudullah stood out as the lone warrior with a solid 62 runs. Tanzid Hasan added 46, but the rest of the top order struggled. Afif Hossain scored 24, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib contributed 45 late in the innings, but it was not enough to pressure the Windies.

Their bowling performance was also lacking. Nahid Rana, Rishad Hossain, and Afif Hossain each took 1 wicket, but the rest of the attack appeared flat. Shoriful Islam and Tanzim Hasan Sakib were particularly expensive and failed to take wickets. They will need to improve significantly if they want to make a contest of it.
