Bangladesh reach quarterfinals after defeating Sri Lanka

Bangladesh, led by Akbar Ali, have advanced to the quarterfinals of the Hong Kong Sixes with an impressive victory over Sri Lanka. At the Mission Road Ground, the Tigers defeated the Lankans by 14 runs.

In today’s Pool D match, batting first, Bangladesh scored 75 runs in the allotted 6 overs. In reply, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 61 runs in 5.1 overs. Off-spinner Mosaddek Hossain starred with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 20 runs in 2 overs.

After losing the toss, Bangladesh were sent in to bat and posted 75 runs, thanks to Akbar Ali’s explosive 32 off 9 balls. His innings came at a strike rate of 355, featuring 4 sixes and 2 fours. Opener Habibur Rahman contributed 21 runs off 7 balls, hitting two fours and two sixes. In the final moments, Abu Haider remained unbeaten on 6 off 10 balls, or the total might have been even higher.
