Bangladesh have now reached the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup. Their qualification was confirmed yesterday when Sri Lanka defeated Afghanistan.
Sri Lanka topped Group B with 6 points, winning all three of their group matches. Bangladesh, who won two matches, finished runners-up with 4 points.
From Group A, India and Pakistan advanced to the last four without much competition. However, the group winner has not yet been decided. India will face Oman this evening, after which the top team from Group A will be confirmed.
The battle in Group B, however, went down to the wire. Afghanistan, despite putting up a great fight, were eliminated. Hong Kong China exited the Asia Cup empty-handed but gave Sri Lanka a tough time before eventually losing due to inexperience.
Meanwhile, despite losing to Sri Lanka, Bangladesh won their other two matches and secured a place in the Super Four. Sri Lanka also advanced from this group. The Super Four stage kicks off on Saturday with a clash between these two teams.
