Bangladesh clinched victory thanks to a century by Azizul Hakim Tamim. The Bangladesh Under-19 team had started the series with a win against Afghanistan Under-19.
After the second match was washed out by rain and two consecutive defeats, Azizul Hakim Tamim’s side fell behind in the series. Facing a must-win situation to save the series, captain Azizul Hakim Tamim led from the front with a brilliant century, guiding Bangladesh to a two-wicket win and leveling the series 2–2.
At the Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi, Afghanistan won the toss and batted first, scoring 208 runs for 8 wickets in their allotted 50 overs.
Chasing the target, Bangladesh secured victory with 25 balls to spare, thanks to Azizul Hakim’s outstanding knock of 100 runs off 118 balls, which included 11 fours and 3 sixes. While other batters failed to settle, Azizul, opening the innings, held one end firm till the very end. After struggling in the previous three matches, he took responsibility when his team was in deep trouble.
When Bangladesh were staring at defeat, Azizul built a 46-run eighth-wicket partnership with Shahriar Al-Amin, reviving hopes for his side. Shortly after reaching the magical three-figure mark, Azizul was dismissed with the team just two runs away from victory.
However, Swadhin Islam came in and smashed a boundary off his very first ball to seal the win for Bangladesh.
The victory sparked jubilation in the Bangladesh camp, with fans in the stands celebrating joyously. The players responded by waving to the cheering crowd in appreciation.
