Fortune Barishal has successfully defended their Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) title. Chasing a challenging target of 195 set by Chattogram Kings, Barishal reached the finish line with 3 wickets in hand and 3 balls to spare, thanks to explosive batting from Tamim Iqbal, Kyle Mayers, and an unbelievable late cameo from Rishad Hossain.
The final at Mirpur’s Home of Cricket was a nail-biting contest between Barishal and Chattogram. After losing the toss, Chattogram posted a formidable total of 194/3, powered by Parvez Hossain Emon’s unbeaten 78, Khawaja Nafay’s 66, and a timely 44-run knock from Graham Clark.
In response, Tamim Iqbal gave Barishal a flying start, smashing a fifty off just 24 balls. However, after his departure for 54, Barishal found themselves slightly on the back foot. Caribbean batter Kyle Mayers then steadied the chase, scoring 46 off 3 fours and 3 sixes before falling to pacer Shoriful Islam.
At the death, all-rounder Rishad Hossain played a sensational cameo, blasting 18 runs off just 6 balls with 2 sixes, sealing Barishal’s victory with three balls to spare.
For Chattogram, left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam was the standout bowler, picking up 4 wickets for 34 runs in his 4-over spell. However, his heroics went in vain as Barishal’s remarkable chase secured them back-to-back BPL titles.
