BCB President Faruk Ahmed Issues Stern Warning on Fixing Allegations

The 11th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is currently underway. However, allegations of suspicious performances in at least eight matches have surfaced, leading to scrutiny on ten players from four different franchises. Among them is Enamul Haque Bijoy, a player who has represented the Bangladesh national team. Various media sources have reported this, and rumors suggest that a travel ban has been imposed on him. This situation has cast a shadow over the in-form batsman, who is among the top run-scorers in the tournament.

When asked about the allegations of fixing and the rumored travel ban, Bijoy expressed his frustration. The national team opener said, “Honestly, I don’t know what to say. I am not fully aware of this (travel ban). I have only seen the news.”

Regarding the fixing allegations, Bijoy added, “The BCB is looking into these matters; they are our guardians. Now, if someone suddenly says something without knowing the facts, it is very painful. Yes, I have informed the BCB, and honestly, they have never disclosed such matters to anyone. Even the BCB is surprised at where these news reports are coming from.”

BCB President Faruk Ahmed, addressing the issue, stated, “Since the investigation is ongoing, we must adhere to certain protocols, so I cannot make any official statements at this moment. However, we are aware of the full list and the matches under suspicion. A thorough investigation is underway.”

Issuing a stern warning, he further said, “If anything is proven through the investigation, everyone knows the severe punishment that will follow. If I find concrete evidence, I will make their lives difficult. I will not let anyone go unpunished for their crimes. There will be only one decision, and it will apply to everyone equally. It will be exemplary.”
