Recently, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto has struggled with the bat, failing to perform in both the series against India and the home Test against South Africa. Amidst criticism, rumors have emerged about his potential resignation from captaincy across all formats. However, BCB President Faruk Ahmed has stated he is unaware of any such decision.
Shanto reportedly wants to focus more on his batting and may step down after the second Test against South Africa. He mentioned, “Let’s see what happens. I’m still waiting to hear from the president.
“In a media interaction before a board meeting on October 30, Faruk Ahmed said, “I don’t know if Najmul has spoken about this to anyone in the press. In this age of social media, players can feel stressed, and any news can impact them. If he feels this way, it’s better to discuss it directly rather than talking to the media.
Faruk further added that if Shanto wishes to stepdown, he should communicate that directly to theoperation department or the board. He concluded,”I also don’t know about this matter. I’ll be inChittagong tonight and will meet with the coachand team tomorrow or the day after, then I canprovide more information.
