A tragic training aircraft crash at Milestone School in Uttara, Dhaka, has resulted in numerous casualties and injuries. In honor of the victims of the accident, Bangladesh dedicated their T20 series win against Pakistan. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had earlier organized a prayer session. Now, the Tigers’ board has taken an even greater step.
The proceeds from ticket sales of the third and final match of the three-game series will be used to support the treatment of those injured in the Milestone tragedy. Additionally, the BCB will contribute to the “July Martyrs Memorial Foundation,” which aids victims and families affected by the July 2024 uprising.
In a statement on Thursday, the BCB announced:
“All proceeds from ticket sales for today’s third and final T20 International match between Bangladesh and Pakistan at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium will be donated to humanitarian aid in light of recent national tragedies. As a gesture of solidarity in this time of mourning and remembrance, the BCB will allocate the entire ticket revenue to two causes—support for the families of those killed and injured in the recent tragic plane crash in Milestone, Dhaka, and to the July Martyrs Memorial Foundation, which aids the victims of the July 2024 uprising.”
BCB President Aminul Islam said:
“Cricket in Bangladesh is more than just a game. It is part of our nation’s soul. In this time of grief and remembrance, we must stand together. The BCB is proud to play a small part in expressing solidarity with the families and loved ones affected by these recent heartbreaking events.”
Earlier, before the second T20, both teams observed a one-minute silence in memory of the Milestone tragedy victims. Players from both Bangladesh and Pakistan wore black armbands during the match. On that day, the BCB also organized a prayer session.
The BCB expressed heartfelt gratitude to all fans and spectators who attended the third and final T20 match, stating that it is through their ticket purchases that this humanitarian aid is made possible.
